Lake Champlain extends from Canada southward for 120 miles. It briefly enjoyed the federal designation
of the sixth Great Lake. However, the designation was soon removed after two months. The tour book I had
didn't explain why. I guess that too many other states also made similar requests to upgrade their own
lakes to be "Great Lake" that the federal government eventually decided to reverse the original decision
and still made it "five Great Lakes". I would say that it's a wise decision. Champlain is a nice big lake
but it is not in the same league with the other five bigger brothers.

The autumn foliage scene here is actually not as famous as its summer activity. We drove a long way here
and only found that almost all the leaves were fallen. It was so windy and freezing cold that we couldn't
stay outdoor for long.
