Big Meadows, located at Skyline Drive milepost 51, looks exactly as its name suggested. It is big, flat and grassy. It is hard to imagine that there exists a grassy land as big as 1000 acres in the middle of mountain and forest.

Big Meadows has not just grass but also all kinds of plants. In summer there are blueberries to pick and enjoy.

Black Rock trail is just a short walk to the top of the hill. The trail head is located beside the Big Meadows Lodge and the length is just 0.2 mile. It takes only about 5 to 10 minutes to compleye the trip. Before you realize that you are hiking, you have already arrived the destination.

Black Rock top has very wide and spectacular view. It is easy accessed by the lodge guests so the trail is always full of visitors.
